When we directly see the absence of inherent existence in people and phenomena these appearances are revealed as the non-duality of appearance and emptiness. From this, sadness arises for all the sentient beings who cling to appearances as if they were real. From this sadness, great compassion arises for all illusory beings grasping at illusion.
